AirTag (Apple’s Bluetooth tracker, April 2021) helped find lost items via Find My network, but immediately weaponized for stalking. Women reported AirTags hidden in cars/belongings for tracking. Apple added anti-stalking features (alerts, sounds), but Android users vulnerable until late 2023. Useful for keys/bags but demonstrated how tracking technology’s beneficial uses have dark mirrors.
