Armin van Buuren is Dutch trance DJ/producer and radio host of “A State of Trance” (ASOT), the world’s most-listened-to trance radio show (40M+ weekly listeners). Five-time DJ Mag #1 DJ (2007-2010, 2012), he remained trance music’s ambassador while genre declined commercially, maintaining loyal global fanbase through ASOT events and emotional live shows.
A State of Trance Legacy
Weekly radio show launched 2001, reached episode 1000+ by 2023. ASOT milestone events (ASOT 550 in Den Bosch, ASOT 900 in Madrid, ASOT 1000 in multiple cities) became trance pilgrimages for tens of thousands of fans globally.
Trance Loyalty
While peers pivoted to big room/progressive house, Armin stayed loyal to trance (with occasional crossover experiments). The dedication earned respect from trance purists even as genre lost mainstream appeal.
