Origin
Rapper DaBaby’s ad-lib “LESS GOO” from his songs became meme in April 2020. Combined with image of him photoshopped into a convertible car (referencing his lyrics about convertibles).
Format
DaBaby’s face stretched onto various convertible cars with “LESS GO” caption. The absurdist humor of transforming him into the vehicle he raps about resonated with Gen Z.
Peak Explosion
April-August 2021 absolutely dominated TikTok. The phrase “Let’s go → DaBaby” became automatic association. Any convertible or “let’s go” statement triggered DaBaby references.
Cultural Saturation
So overused it became example of meme oversaturation killing itself. By late 2021, using it became ironic commentary on dead memes.
Decline
DaBaby’s 2021 homophobic comments accelerated the meme’s death. What was innocent absurdist humor became associated with controversy. Largely dead by 2022.
