#ForYouTab

Twitter forces algorithmic “For You” feed as default, enraging users.

Origin & Impact

In January 2023, Twitter made the algorithmic “For You” tab the default view, replacing the chronological “Following” feed. Users complained about seeing tweets from accounts they didn’t follow and missing updates from friends. The change reflected Musk’s focus on engagement metrics over user preference, and the hashtag became a rallying cry for chronological feed advocates.
