#GreatFandomTruce is the August 2026 TikTok trend where normally-feuding fandoms — #JujutsuKaisen, #FNAF, Hazbin Hotel, and dozens of anime communities — posted “Just This Once” handshake memes uniting against the Australian animated Netflix release Lesbian Space Princess. Know Your Meme named it their August 2026 Meme of the Month, over runners-up #LaPeace and the Petra Parker fan-art trend.

Origin
Lesbian Space Princess is a 2025 Australian adult animated science-fiction comedy written and directed by Emma Hough Hobbs and Leela Varghese. When it landed on Netflix in August 2026, reception online skewed sharply negative. Rather than staying inside a single fandom’s discourse, the mockery pulled in fandoms that don’t normally overlap — Hazbin Hotel, Jujutsu Kaisen, Five Nights at Freddy’s, and multiple anime communities — who found themselves temporarily aligned against a common target.
On August 22, 2026, TikTok user @blitzing00 posted an edit depicting multiple fandoms teaming up against Lesbian Space Princess. The clip cleared 1.5 million views and 232,800 likes in two days, and the pattern spread quickly to Reddit and X.
Format
The dominant format is a two-character handshake image — one character from each fandom, hands extended in peace — captioned “Just This Once.” Users insert their own fandom pairings: Hazbin Hotel × Jujutsu Kaisen, FNAF × My Hero Academia, One Piece × Naruto. Some edits nest multiple truces into a single frame, others use the format for the joke of “our beef paused, look at THIS.” A parallel thread frames the truce as a fictional alliance treaty, with dramatic captions and “signature” graphics.
Notable Variations
- Multi-fandom convention edits — group-photo montages of characters from ten or more fandoms shaking hands in one frame.
- “Peace-treaty” edits — parody scrolls and signature graphics, styled as historical documents.
- “Just This Once” applied outside fandom — the phrase leaked into political, sports, and workplace posts as a general “temporary alliance against a common enemy” caption.
Cultural Impact
Know Your Meme named the Great Fandom Truce their Meme of the Month for August 2026, ahead of #LaPeace and the Petra Parker Spider-Man fan-art trend. The trend is a rare example of an internet meme organized around inter-fandom cooperation rather than fandom-vs-fandom conflict — a “truce” pattern that platforms and reaction feeds don’t usually reward.
It also renewed interest in Lesbian Space Princess itself, which had premiered at Sundance in 2025 and won the Crystal Bear at Berlin before its wider Netflix release. Coverage from Yahoo, IBTimes UK, Primetimer, and Know Your Meme all treated the meme and the film’s reception as a single story.
