The Melodic Bass Movement
#IlleniumAshes tracks Denver producer Nicholas Miller’s debut album Ashes (February 2016), which pioneered “melodic dubstep” and created a fiercely loyal fanbase known as the “Illenials.”
Ashes to Awake Evolution
Ashes introduced Illenium’s formula: heavy bass drops paired with piano melodies, indie rock guitars, and emotional vocals. Breakout singles “Fortress” (feat. Joni Fatora) and “Reverie” (feat. King Deco) showcased his unique blend of aggression and beauty.
Sophomore album Awake (2017) included massive singles “Feel Good” (feat. Daya), “Crawl Outta Love” (feat. Annika Wells), and “Beautiful Creatures” (feat. MAX). The album peaked at #3 Billboard Dance/Electronic and sold out Red Rocks 2017.
Ascend & Fallen Embers Era
Ascend (2019) debuted at #14 Billboard 200 (rare for electronic music), won Billboard Music Award for Top Dance/Electronic Album. Title track “Ascend” became a festival anthem, while “Good Things Fall Apart” (with Jon Bellion) crossed over to pop radio.
Fallen Embers (2021) continued his signature sound with features from Chainsmokers, THIRTY SECONDS TO MARS, and Bipolar Sunshine.
Live Experience & Trilogy Concept
Illenium’s live shows feature live drumming, guitar, and vocals layered over DJ sets. His “Trilogy” Red Rocks performances (2019, 2021, 2022) honored each album era with custom stage production and sold 30,000+ tickets per night.
