Overview

#InstantPhotography captured the Polaroid/Fujifilm Instax revival 2013-2020 as physical instant prints became nostalgic tactile experience in digital age. Impossible Project (later Polaroid Originals) revived discontinued Polaroid film 2010, Fujifilm Instax cameras became teen/wedding essential. Represented analog authenticity, scrapbook culture, and premium physical media ($0.75-2.00 per shot) as counterpoint to infinite free digital photos.

Instax cameras (Mini, Wide, Square formats) outsold digital cameras globally by 2017. Wedding photo booths, concert instant prints, journal/scrapbook decoration created use cases beyond nostalgia. Vintage Polaroid SX-70, 600 cameras rose from thrift store junk to $100-400 collectibles.

Instagram paradox: sharing photos of physical instant photos. Aesthetic of instant film (square format, color shifts, borders) mimicked digitally via filters, but tactile keepsake remained unique selling point against smartphone ubiquity.
