Origin & Impact
IT Chapter Two, released in September 2019, concluded the story of Pennywise and the Losers Club with an adult cast including Jessica Chastain, James McAvoy, and Bill Hader. While not as unanimously praised as the first chapter, the film became a box office success and cultural conversation piece.
The hashtag filled with reactions to the film’s scares, Bill Hader’s comedic performance, and the ambitious three-hour runtime. Pennywise memes continued proliferating, and the film became one of the highest-grossing horror movies ever, cementing the IT revival as a major success.
