The Notch (black cutout at top of iPhone X screen for FaceID cameras, 2017) became instantly controversial design element mocked and copied industry-wide. While enabling edge-to-edge display, it interrupted screen content and became aesthetic debate. Android manufacturers mocked it then copied it (OnePlus, Pixel). Apple finally replaced with Dynamic Island (2022), admitting mistake while pretending it was planned evolution.
