Queen of Dark Techno
#RezzMassManipulation celebrates Ukrainian-Canadian producer Isabelle Rezazadeh’s debut album Mass Manipulation (August 2017), which established her hypnotic, bass-driven sound and cult-like fanbase.
Sound & Aesthetic
Rezz’s signature style blends mid-tempo bass (100-115 BPM), hypnotic synth loops, industrial textures, and minimal vocals. Her production techniques create “hypnotic” trance states—fans describe feeling “mind-controlled” during sets.
Visual aesthetic: LED-illuminated goggles (hiding eyes to create mysterious persona), occult/cult imagery, purple/green color schemes, and dystopian themes.
Breakthrough & Dead-Beats Label
Discovered by Deadmau5, Rezz joined his Mau5trap label in 2015. Early EPs The Silence Is Deafening (2016) and Something Wrong Here (2016) built underground buzz.
Mass Manipulation featured collaborations with Kotek (“Relax”), 13 (“Premonition”), and Fytch (“Diluted Brains”). The album peaked at #6 Billboard Dance/Electronic Albums and #40 Canadian Albums.
Certain Kind of Magic & Beyond
Certain Kind of Magic (2018) included crossover single “Witching Hour” (with Kotek) and cemented her festival headline status. Third album Spiral (2021) continued her evolution.
Cult of Rezz
Fans call themselves the “Cult of Rezz,” wearing matching goggles, creating fan art, and documenting “Rezz-induced hypnosis” experiences. Her shows feature synchronized crowd headbanging and minimal stage lighting (relying on her LED goggles and visuals).
