Melodic Dubstep Pioneer
#SevenLionsWorldsApart celebrates Jeff Montalvo’s debut EP Worlds Apart (April 2014), which fused trance melodies, dubstep bass, and live instrumentation to create a genre-defining sound that influenced melodic bass for a decade.
Sound & Style
Seven Lions combined psytrance buildups, dubstep wobbles, and emotional breakdowns with live vocals (often featuring Kerli, Myon & Shane 54, Fiora). His production bridged the gap between Anjunabeats progressive trance and Excision-style heavy bass.
Notable tracks: “Strangers” (feat. Tove Lo, 2014), “Rush Over Me” (Illenium collab, 2017), “Ocean” (feat. Jonathan Mendelsohn, 2012).
Ophelia Records & Horizon Tour
Launched Ophelia Records (2018) to release melodic bass artists (Jason Ross, MitiS, Crystal Skies, Blastoyz). The label became a home for the melodic dubstep/trance fusion movement.
His “Chronicles” and “Horizon” tour series featured multi-hour extended sets blending his entire catalog with live visual storytelling.
Festival Presence
Seven Lions became a fixture at EDC Las Vegas (Circuit Grounds stage), Electric Forest (Sherwood Forest sets), and Dreamstate (trance-focused festival). His unique sound attracted both bass-heads and trance purists.
