Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s powerhouse duet from A Star Is Born that won the Oscar for Best Original Song and became a global anthem.
The Collaboration
Released September 2018 as the lead single from the A Star Is Born soundtrack, “Shallow” showcased Gaga’s versatility beyond pop. Co-written with Mark Ronson, Andrew Wyatt, and Anthony Rossomando, the rock ballad built from whispered verses to a soaring climax.
The song reached #1 in 20+ countries, sold over 10 million copies, and earned widespread critical acclaim for both Gaga’s vocal performance and the authentic chemistry between her and Cooper (who learned to sing for the role).
Awards Sweep
“Shallow” won the Oscar for Best Original Song (Gaga’s emotional acceptance speech thanking Cooper went viral), two Grammys (Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, Best Song Written for Visual Media), a Golden Globe, a BAFTA, and a Critics’ Choice Award.
The live performance at the 2019 Oscars became legendary for the intimate staging—Gaga and Cooper singing inches apart at a piano while speculation about their relationship dominated headlines.
