Overview

#Bloodborne trended in March 2015 around FromSoftware’s PlayStation 4 exclusive gothic horror RPG. The Victorian-era Lovecraftian nightmare rewarded aggressive combat over Dark Souls’ defensive play, introduced trick weapons and Rally mechanics, and became Sony’s most demanded PC port (still unreleased).

The Hunt

Set in cursed Yharnam, hunters battled beasts, cosmic gods, and existential dread. The game’s shift from werewolves to eldritch abominations mid-story blindsided players. Ludwig the Accursed, Orphan of Kos, and Lady Maria boss fights are considered series peaks.

Cult Classic

Despite performance issues (30fps lock, load times), Bloodborne won critical acclaim (92 Metacritic) and sold 7.5+ million copies. The Old Hunters DLC (2015) is called gaming’s best expansion. #BloodbornePCremaster petition has 100K+ signatures. “Fear the Old Blood” and “A hunter must hunt” became mantras.
