Deep Rock Galactic, fully released May 13, 2020 (after two years early access), by Ghost Ship Games, became co-op gaming’s most wholesome community. The game about space dwarves mining alien caves sold over 5.5 million copies through 2024.

Rock and Stone!

Four players chose classes (Driller, Scout, Engineer, Gunner), descended into procedurally generated caves, mined minerals, fought alien bugs, and extracted before time ran out. The “Rock and Stone!” salute became gaming’s friendliest meme.

Positive Community

Unlike toxic competitive games, DRG fostered cooperation. No PvP, no loot competition—just dwarves helping dwarves. The community became legendary for welcoming new players. Developers supported the game with free seasonal updates, cosmetics, and events.

Deep Rock Galactic proved live-service games didn’t need predatory monetization or endless grind—just solid gameplay, fair pricing, and respecting players’ time.
