Spain’s Euro 2012 victory completed an unprecedented three consecutive major tournament wins (Euro 2008, World Cup 2010, Euro 2012) — the greatest national team dynasty ever.
The Final
Spain defeated Italy 4-0 in the final in Kyiv — the most dominant Euro final performance. Goals from David Silva (2), Jordi Alba, and Fernando Torres showcased Spain’s attacking depth.
The tournament featured Spain’s false nine system with no traditional striker — Cesc Fàbregas started some games as the nominal “striker,” but the fluid attacking play baffled opponents.
Legacy
Spain’s 14-match unbeaten run in major tournament knockout games (2008-2013) remains unmatched. The core of Xavi, Iniesta, Casillas, Puyol, and Ramos will be remembered as Spain’s golden generation.
