Overview
#MassEffectTrilogy celebrates BioWare’s sci-fi RPG saga (2007-2012) defining choice-driven narratives. The space opera following Commander Shepard’s fight against Reapers sold 30+ million copies, created gaming’s most beloved cast (Garrus, Tali, Liara), and sparked the most controversial ending debate in gaming history.
The Journey
Mass Effect (2007): Saren, Sovereign, becoming Spectre. Mass Effect 2 (2010): Suicide Mission perfection, loyalty quests, romance deepening. Mass Effect 3 (2012): Earth invasion, genophage cure, quarian-geth peace, and the ending. Import saves across trilogy, choices mattering (or do they?).
The Ending Controversy
March 2012: Mass Effect 3’s RGB choice ending (Destroy/Control/Synthesis) ignored 100+ hours of decisions. Fans revolted: “Hold the Line” protests, charity drives, Forbes op-eds. BioWare released Extended Cut DLC (June 2012). Legendary Edition remaster (2021) sold 5M copies. Garrus “I’m in the middle of some calibrations” forever meme.
