#NLAW
British-Swedish anti-tank weapon that became Ukraine’s early-war tank killer.
Origin & Impact
The Next Generation Light Anti-tank Weapon (NLAW) provided by UK and allies proved devastatingly effective against Russian armor in the war’s first months. Lighter than Javelins but equally lethal, thousands of NLAWs helped stop Russia’s advance on Kyiv. Videos of NLAW hits went viral, boosting Ukrainian morale.
The hashtag represented UK’s early and substantial military support, with Boris Johnson using it to highlight Britain’s role. NLAW success stories became recruitment propaganda and evidence that technology could level battlefield disparities.
