The Event

Sensation (originally Sensation White) is a Dutch indoor electronic music event known for its strict all-white dress code, theatrical production, and house/trance focus. Founded in 2000 in Amsterdam Arena, it became global phenomenon touring 40+ countries with immersive visual spectacles rivaling Cirque du Soleil.

All-White Dress Code

The mandatory white clothing dress code created unique visual: 40,000 attendees dressed in white under UV lights, creating sea of glowing bodies. The aesthetic became Instagram phenomenon before Instagram existed, with fans designing elaborate white outfits (tutus, suits, LED accessories).

Amsterdam Arena Legacy

Annual Amsterdam shows (capacity 40,000-45,000) sold out in minutes. The indoor arena setting allowed production impossible at outdoor festivals: aerial performers, pyrotechnics, CO2 cannons, synchronized confetti drops, and the iconic “Ocean of White” opening sequence.

Global Expansion

2002-2016: Sensation toured Australia, Brazil, Chile, Denmark, Germany, Russia, UAE, USA. Each show maintained strict quality control: same production values, same dress code, same immersive experience regardless of location.

Notable Themes

Each year’s theme drove production design: “Innerspace” (2011), “Wicked Wonderland” (2012), “Welcome to the Pleasuredome” (2013), “Source of Light” (2014). Themes incorporated storylines, theatrical elements, and visual narratives beyond typical DJ performances.
