Tom Brady won his 7th Super Bowl ring at age 43, leading the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to victory in his first season with the team — cementing his GOAT (Greatest of All Time) status.
The Season
Brady left New England Patriots (20 years, 6 rings) and signed with Buccaneers in March 2020. Teamed with coach Bruce Arians, receivers Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, tight end Rob Gronkowski (who un-retired to join Brady).
Bucs went 11-5 regular season. Playoffs: defeated Washington, Saints, Packers. Reached Super Bowl LV at Raymond James Stadium (home field).
Super Bowl LV
February 7, 2021, Tampa: Buccaneers 31, Kansas City Chiefs 9
- Brady: 21/29 passing, 201 yards, 3 TDs
- Chiefs offensive line decimated by injuries
- Patrick Mahomes (presumed heir to Brady) held scoreless on TDs
- Brady’s 5th Super Bowl MVP (most ever)
At 43 years, 188 days: oldest QB to win Super Bowl, oldest Super Bowl MVP.
GOAT Status
Seven rings (more than any franchise). Ten Super Bowl appearances. Records for yards, TDs, wins. Played until age 45 (retired 2023 after brief un-retirement).
Michael Jordan has 6 rings. Brady has 7. The debate ended.
