#RussianWarshipGoFuckYourself

Defiant response from Ukrainian border guards on Snake Island became legendary.

Origin & Impact

On February 24, 2022, when Russian warship Moskva demanded Ukrainian border guards on Snake Island surrender, the response was “Russian warship, go fuck yourself.” Initially believed killed (they survived as POWs), the 13 defenders became instant heroes. The phrase appeared on stamps, murals, merchandise, and became Ukraine’s unofficial motto.

The Moskva itself was later sunk by Ukrainian missiles in April 2022, turning the curse into prophecy. This hashtag embodied Ukrainian defiance and dark humor in the face of overwhelming odds.
